Time Bomb Reviews
Full review to come!
I actually read this super duper fast which is most likely due to the writing itself. The author has a great style that is clear and flowing which is a reason that I love her work so much. That being said, this book did leave some things to be considered and left me with some unanswered questions at the end. The characters were troubled and relatable but unfortunately I kind of figured out the twist’ if you will, before it happened. Overall, I enjoyed this book.

I'd like to thank Netgalley for providing me an eARC of Time Bomb! When I first read the synopsis, it instantly gave me vibes similar to One of Us is Lying which was one of my favourite reads of 2017 so I was super keen on reading it. And for the first half, the book lived up to my expectations since I couldn't put it down! Although it was nothing like what I thought it would be, I was still so interested since there were multiple POV and an aura of mystery that surrounded the plot which I gre ...more
I was a little disappointed at the ending o my because I figured it out from the beginning. But I did really like the mix of kids and their impact on one another. Finishing this book during the horrible Florida school shooting that happened yesterday and hearing all the talking heads on CNN this morning made the book all the more surreal. I think this book could lead important discussions on how we judge people, how we ignore people and how we can maybe make things better.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
I have always enjoyed Joelle Charbonneau's novels and was curious to read her new one even more when I read the synopsis.
The concept of this novel is simple, several bombs have explode in a high school, 6 survivors try to get out of it, the only problem is one of them is the bomber. What I found interesting in this novel is the diversity of the cast. Indeed, our 6 characters have very different malaise that for me are representative of ...more
The Breakfast Club with bombs...?
It really is a bit like that. A group of disparate high school students, each disgruntled in their own ways, are forced to bond in school in an unusual situation, revealing their secrets slowly until commonalities and comradeships are formed. Except it's not in detention (or with Simple Minds playing). A bomb has been detonated at their school. And most likely - by one of them.
Yes, this got my attention when I saw the synopsis. Of course it did. A mystery alongsi ...more

Oh my word! This book is so gripping! Trust me when I say that you'll have a hard time putting it down! At first I thought the transition of focus between 5-6 characters would be hard to follow, but after all the kids are at the school you barely notice it. The story flows so well and you can't help but wonder what each of the students is planning when they go to school a week before it starts.
I appreciate that the author doesn't overuse curse words, like many ot ...more
